BioEquus | Daily Gut & Microbiome Support

Sale price£57.00 4.8

Where good health starts.

Good condition, a shine on the coat, the way a horse gets everything out of its feed — so much of it traces back to the gut. BioEquus is Hi Form's dedicated gut formula: pre-, pro- and postbiotics working together with aloe vera, slippery elm and peppermint, to support a healthy gut microbiome and normal digestion. One small daily scoop, human-grade and TGA-listed, with nothing in there as filler.

What is BioEquus?

Health starts in the gut

Ask any good yard manager where condition comes from and the conversation reaches the gut surprisingly fast. It is where fibre is fermented, where much of the goodness in feed is actually absorbed, and where a large share of a horse's wellbeing is quietly decided. Keep the gut microbiome healthy and a great many other things tend to look after themselves.

Three jobs, one blend

Most gut supplements do one thing. BioEquus was formulated to do three at once: prebiotics to feed the beneficial bacteria already there, probiotics to add live helpful microbes, and postbiotics — the useful compounds those microbes produce. Alongside them sit two of the feed room's oldest gut-care botanicals, aloe vera and slippery elm, with peppermint for palatability. A whole-formula approach to a healthy microbiome, not one strain doing all the lifting.

Made the Hi Form way

Every ingredient is human grade and listed with the TGA for human use, made in our HACCP-certified, Feedsafe-accredited facility in Australia. Crude ash — the part doing nothing — comes in at 0.2%, and there are no fillers, artificial flavours or preservatives. The scoop is small because the formula is concentrated, not bulked out.

Already inside your daily scoop?

Here is the honest bit: if your horse is on Oxydane or LeisureVit, BioEquus is already built in — you do not need a second tub. BioEquus on its own is for horses on a different daily feed, for youngsters and companions who do not need a full vitamin-and-mineral formula, or for anyone who wants dedicated gut support to feed on its own terms. Not sure which camp you are in? Our free nutrition advice team will tell you straight — even when the answer saves you a purchase.

What it does

Tap any benefit for the detail.

BioEquus combines pre-, pro- and postbiotics to support a healthy population of beneficial gut bacteria — the foundation the rest of the digestive system is built on.

A healthy gut is where fibre is fermented and where nutrients are absorbed. BioEquus is formulated to support normal, everyday digestion as part of a balanced ration.

Two of the best-known botanicals in the feed room, both rich in mucilage — a soft, soluble plant fibre. Hi Form includes them for their long traditional place in equine gut care.

Prebiotics feed the good bacteria, probiotics add live ones, and postbiotics are the useful compounds they produce. Feeding all three, rather than one, is the thinking behind BioEquus.

A level 5g scoop for most horses at the maintenance rate, mixed into slightly damp feed. Concentrated, human-grade, 0.2% crude ash and no fillers.

BioEquus is so central to how we think about health that we build it inside Oxydane, LeisureVit and BreedPlus. Fed on its own, it gives horses on other rations exactly the same foundation.

Comparing gut supplements? Read the labels together

Two gut tubs can look identical on the shelf and be very different inside. The three things worth comparing: how many jobs the formula actually does, what else is in there, and whether you are feeding a small scoop or a big one.

What's Inside?

Key bio-available ingredients

Prebiotics (incl. fructo-oligosaccharides)The food source for the beneficial bacteria already living in the gut — a substrate that helps a healthy microbiome look after itself.
Probiotics (live cultures)Beneficial live microbes, added to support a healthy gut population. One part of a three-way blend, not the whole story. (See the flag on UK strain naming.)
PostbioticsThe useful compounds produced by beneficial microbes — the third element of the three-in-one blend.
Aloe veraA mucilage-rich botanical with a long traditional place in equine gut care, included as a concentrated extract.
Peppermint extract Peppermint extractA 10:1 extract that earns its place twice over: a botanical in its own right, and the reason fussy feeders rarely notice it is there.
Zinc & Vitamin C Zinc & Vitamin CTwo nutrients with recognised roles in normal maintenance, included at measured daily levels.
Mineral tissue saltsHi Form's signature: finely prepared micro-doses of the body's 12 essential minerals, chosen for easy uptake. In the range since 1990.

Small scoop, serious formula

Mix into slightly damp feed. It can also be made into a paste and syringed if your horse prefers the direct approach.

Standard Rate (Horses) 5g per day 1 level scoop
Extra Support 10g per day 2 level scoops

Every horse is different — if you are unsure which rate fits yours, our free nutrition advice team will happily tell you (even if the answer is 'less than you are currently feeding').

When does my horse need BioEquus in their feed bucket?

The moments it was made for...

  • A change is coming — new yard, new forage, new feed, new routine
  • Spring grass is arriving, or autumn is switching the grazing off
  • A spell of box rest is changing how the gut spends its day
  • Travel and competition make the routine anything but routine
  • The fussy eater whose gut you'd like on your side

What it actually costs

From 62p a day. A pony at the maintenance rate can be as little as 62p a day; a 500kg horse at maintenance works out around £1.03 a day, and about £2.06 on the fuller standard rate. (Maths on the 500g tub at £103.)

Could we make it cheaper? Only by putting less in — and with a gut formula, what is in it is rather the point. If budgets are tight, start at the maintenance rate, and our free nutrition advice team will tell you honestly which rate your horse actually needs, even when the answer is the cheaper one.

Available in 250g and 500g tubs.
