ElectroPlus | Concentrated Buffered Electrolytes

Sale price£52.00

Replaces what sweat takes out.

When a horse works, more than water leaves with the sweat — essential mineral salts go with it, and a bucket of water alone doesn't put them back. ElectroPlus is a concentrated, buffered electrolyte that helps maintain normal electrolyte balance in horses in work: the mineral spread a sweating horse loses, alongside a live yeast, a classical botanical and Hi Form's mineral tissue salts — in a serve measured in grams, not scoopfuls.

For hard work, travel, competition days and hot weather

Buffered acid/alkaline formulation — no sodium bicarbonate

Just 5–15g a day · human-grade, TGA-listed ingredients · no fillers

What is ElectroPlus?

Sweat takes more than water

Horses are prodigious sweaters — it's how they shed heat, and they're world-class at it. A hard schooling session, a stuffy lorry, a muggy August show morning: the sweat rolls, and it carries mineral salts out with it — sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium. Water replaces the water. An electrolyte's job is to put back the rest, so normal electrolyte balance stays exactly that — normal. That is the whole job, and ElectroPlus does it properly.

One small scoop, three jobs

ElectroPlus is built to do three things in one 5–15g serve. First, the electrolyte spread itself — potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium, with phosphorus alongside — to replace what's lost in sweat. Second, a buffered acid/alkaline formulation: the minerals arrive as gentle phosphate and sulphate forms, which is why there's no sodium bicarbonate anywhere on the label. Third, a live yeast — Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077, registered in feed law as a digestibility enhancer — working alongside uva ursi and the twelve mineral tissue salts. As ever with Hi Form, it's one synergistic formula, not a hero ingredient with backing singers.

Built the Hi Form way

Since 1990, every Hi Form formula has been made to the same standard: human-grade ingredients listed with Australia's TGA, no fillers, no artificial flavours or preservatives, blended in a HACCP-certified, Feedsafe-accredited facility, proudly Australian made. ElectroPlus is no exception — and the concentration shows in the serve. Where many powders ask for scoopfuls, this one asks for grams.

Already feeding Oxydane?

Then the everyday is covered — Oxydane's complete daily formula includes everyday electrolyte support, and for horses in light, steady work that's usually plenty. ElectroPlus is the step up for when the sweat steps up: the clinic week, the three-day event, the long haul to the show, the heatwave. Keep a tub in the feed room and bring it out on exactly those days — the two are designed to work together, not to overlap.

What it does

Tap any benefit for the detail.

ElectroPlus supplies potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium — the minerals a sweating horse loses — helping maintain normal electrolyte balance in horses in work, on the days when water alone isn't the whole answer.

Some horses need an electrolyte daily through the season; others only around hard work, long journeys or hot weather. ElectroPlus suits both routines — feed to bodyweight on the days it has earned its place in the bucket.

The full daily serve is 5–15 grams. That's the concentration story in one number: the formula carries the minerals themselves, not a tubful of carrier powder around them.

ElectroPlus achieves its buffered acid/alkaline formulation through mineral phosphate and sulphate forms — so there's no sodium bicarbonate in the tub. If you read labels (we hope you do), it's a difference you'll spot straight away.

Alongside the electrolyte spread sit Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077 — a live yeast registered as a digestibility enhancer — uva ursi, a botanical with centuries of traditional use, and the twelve mineral tissue salts that have been a Hi Form signature since 1990.

Mix 5–15g into slightly damp feed and most horses never notice it's there. It sits happily alongside Oxydane and the rest of the range — and a tub kept for sweat days has a habit of seeing out the whole season.

Comparing electrolytes? Read the labels together

Two tubs can both say 'electrolytes' and be startlingly different inside. Our advice is the same as ever: turn them around. Three things to compare — how big the daily serve is, what's carrying the minerals, and what a day costs at the recommended rate. A big tub emptied a scoopful at a time is rarely the bargain it looks.

What's Inside?

Key bio-available ingredients

Mineral tissue saltsHi Form's signature: finely prepared micro-doses of the body's 12 essential minerals, chosen for easy uptake. In the range since 1990.
PotassiumThe largest single figure on the declared analysis, at 120,413mg per kg — horse sweat is rich in potassium, and the formula reflects it.
Sodium, calcium & magnesium Sodium, calcium & magnesiumThe rest of the electrolyte spread — declared at 23,988mg, 21,825mg and 7,816mg per kg — replacing what leaves in sweat.
Phosphate & sulphate mineral formsTri-calcium phosphate, tri-magnesium phosphate and the sulphates of magnesium, sodium and calcium: the gentle mineral forms behind the buffered acid/alkaline formulation — no sodium bicarbonate required.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-1077A live yeast registered in feed law as a digestibility enhancer — a rare thing to find inside an electrolyte.
Uva ursiA classical European botanical with a very long traditional pedigree — one of the quiet extras that make this more than a bag of salts.
Brewer's yeast & EquiSoyThe natural base of the formula: B-vitamin-rich brewer's yeast and our own de-bittered, oral-grade soy flour — carrying protein and B vitamins where many powders carry sugar.
Zinc & iron Zinc & ironDeclared trace elements — 1,400mg zinc and 2,760mg iron per kg — meaningful levels for a product fed by the spoonful.

When does my horse need ElectroPlus in their bucket?

The moments it was made for...

  • Hot days, hard work, and sweat you can see
  • Travel days — the quiet sweat under the rug in the lorry
  • Competition weekends with multiple classes
  • Winter workloads under rugs, when sweating goes unnoticed
  • Any horse in consistent work, as the daily electrolyte habit

What it actually costs

From 43p a day for a 500kg horse — that's the 3kg tub (£129) fed daily, which lasts around 300 days. Call it one takeaway coffee a week. The 1kg tub (£52) gives at least 100 days at the same rate — 52p a day — and ponies come in from around 22p.

And because ElectroPlus can simply be kept for the days that need it, a single tub routinely sees out an entire season of shows, journeys and hot spells.

Could we make it cheaper? Easily — we'd put less in and hand you a bigger scoop. The serve is measured in grams precisely because the formula is concentrated rather than padded: you're paying for the minerals, not the powder around them.

Available in 1kg and 3kg tubs, or a monthly subscription pouch.
