What is ProflamAid Plus?
Joints AND muscles — because everything is connected
Most joint supplements stop at the joint. But a joint never works alone: bones meet at joints, cartilage cushions them, tendons anchor the muscles that move them, and ligaments hold the whole arrangement together. Ask any physio — the system works as a system.
That's the thinking ProflamAid Plus was patented on, twenty-five-plus years ago: one formula supplying the building blocks for the whole musculoskeletal picture — healthy joints, supple movement and muscle condition — rather than one ingredient for one part.
What a working life asks
Schooling, jumping, hacking up hills, the odd exuberant field manoeuvre — work is exactly what horses are built for, and good nutrition is what keeps the framework well supplied. ProflamAid Plus is designed for horses in work of every kind: the competition horse out every weekend, the youngster learning the ropes, the schoolmaster who deserves to feel his best, and the good friend who's simply getting on a bit and still enjoying the job.
One formula, working as one
ProflamAid Plus was formulated as a synergistic whole — botanicals, vitamins, minerals and tissue salts selected to work together, not a hero ingredient with a supporting cast. And nothing goes in as padding: every botanical is a concentrated extract (the turmeric alone is a 100:1 extract standardised to 85% curcuminoids — one hundred kilos of root into every kilo that goes in the tub), the vitamin levels are printed on the analysis for anyone to check, and the crude ash figure — the bit doing nothing — is 0.02%. Every ingredient is human grade and TGA-listed, made in our HACCP-certified facility. The label hides nothing, because there's nothing to hide.
What it does
Tap any benefit for the detail.
Cartilage, tendons and ligaments are built and maintained from nutrients — vitamin C, minerals, amino acids. ProflamAid Plus supplies them daily, so a working horse's body has what it needs to keep its joints healthy through a working life.
Supple, easy movement is what every rider is chasing — and it starts with healthy joints and well-supported muscles. ProflamAid Plus provides the building blocks to support both, for horses in hard work and competition.
Muscles do the moving; joints just allow it. The formula supports muscle condition and topline in horses in work — one reason we've never made a joints-only product.
ProflamAid Plus carries over 90,000mg of vitamin C per kilo alongside vitamin E and B vitamins — antioxidant nutrition at levels most joint blends simply don't attempt. Check any label against ours; we'll wait.
Corydalis, rue, rosehip, peppermint and turmeric — botanicals with centuries of traditional use, prepared as concentrated extracts so every gram in the scoop is pulling its weight. And they're only the start: behind them sit five vitamins, zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium and the full set of twelve mineral tissue salts.
Formulated for daily feeding as part of the normal ration, season after season — youngsters starting out, competition horses mid-career, and the seniors still enjoying gentle work. Pairs naturally with Oxydane as the daily foundation.
Why no glucosamine? (Or chondroitin. Or MSM.)
It's the first thing supplement-savvy owners notice about our label — most joint supplements are built on those three. Ours never has been, and the reason is worth a moment of your time: horses are strict herbivores. Every ingredient we use has to make sense for one.
This is a philosophy, not a shortcut — it has shaped ProflamAid Plus since the early nineties, and it's the same rule across the whole Hi Form range: no fish oils, no bovine by-products, nothing your horse's digestive system never evolved to meet. It's also why the formula is built instead on botanicals, antioxidant vitamins and mineral tissue salts, all working as one.
Long-time customers on the Australian circuit still call it P+ — the philosophy hasn't changed since then either.
Glucosamine
Typically produced from shellfish shells. Shellfish has no place in a horse's natural diet, so it has no place in our formula.
Chondroitin
Generally derived from animal cartilage. The same principle applies: nothing from the abattoir goes in a herbivore's feed bucket.
MSM
A synthesised compound. We formulate with concentrated plant extracts, vitamins and minerals — ingredients with centuries of traditional use, every one on the TGA's human-use list.
Comparing joint supplements? Read the labels together
Two tubs can both say 'joint support' and contain very different things. Our advice is the same as ever: turn them around. Three things to compare — what's actually added, how concentrated the extracts are, and what a day costs at the recommended feed rate.

When does my horse need ProflamAid Plus in their feed bucket?
The moments it was made for...
- Hard work and competition are the routine, not the exception
- The schooling has moved up a level — more collection, more repetition, more asked
- A youngster is learning the job, and you want the framework well supplied from the start
- A senior schoolmaster is still working and deserves the full support
- The ground has gone — hard summer tracks or deep winter going
What it actually costs
From 97p a day. At the 10g maintenance rate, a 5kg tub lasts 500 days — many horses live very happily there.
In regular work at the standard rate, it's £1.94–£2.43 a day — around the price of one riding lesson a month, for daily support of the whole musculoskeletal system. A 1kg tub is 40–50 days; the 5kg tub, 200–250.
Could we make it cheaper? Easily — we'd just have to put less in. A 100:1 extract means a hundred kilos of turmeric go into every kilo we use, and that's the spend we won't cut. If budgets are tight, start at the maintenance rate — and our free nutrition advice team will tell you honestly which rate your horse actually needs, even when the answer is the cheaper one.
Available in 500g, 1kg, 2kg, 5kg and 10kg tubs, or a 375g, 750g monthly subscription pouch.

Deliberately absent — along with chondroitin and MSM. Horses are strict herbivores, so the formula uses only plant, vitamin and mineral nutrition that suits one: no shellfish derivatives, no bovine by-products, no fish oils. A different philosophy, held since the early nineties.
They're designed as a pair: Oxydane covers the daily essentials and helps the horse get the most from everything else; ProflamAid Plus adds targeted support for the moving parts. Plenty of customers feed both — the Joint & Muscle Collection bundles them.
That's one for your vet first, always. ProflamAid Plus is a complementary feed supplement for maintaining healthy horses, not a medicine or a replacement for one. Once your vet is happy, our free nutrition advice team can help it fit alongside whatever they've prescribed.
Formulated with clean sport in mind, made in a HACCP-certified, Feedsafe-accredited facility with batch traceability. See our Clean Sport page for the full picture.
Nutrition can be a patient game — changes can be seen as quickly as 7 days in, but we suggest committing to 8–12 weeks of consistent daily feeding as part of the ration, and letting your own eyes (and your instructor's comments) be the judge.
The peppermint helps enormously. Mix into damp feed, or make a paste and syringe it — the spec sheet's polite way of saying 'non-negotiable, darling'.
Performance (30-35g) for horses in hard work or recovering from injuries, Standard (20–25g) for horses in regular work; maintenance (10g) for the lighter life. If in doubt, ask the free nutrition advice team — it's what they're for.
QUALITY YOU CAN TRUST.
