Breathe | Everyday Respiratory Support

Sale price£26.00

The stable-season staple.

Most horses spend part of the year living in — and hay, straw and bedding all travel with dust. Breathe is the everyday product for exactly that life: a tea-cut blend of five herbs — peppermint (a concentrated 10:1 extract), liquorice root, marshmallow leaf and root, ginger and thyme — supporting healthy respiratory function in horses stabled for long periods or kept in dusty environments.

What is Breathe?

The everyday product for the way horses actually live

Winter routines, livery yards, competition legs away from home — most horses spend a good chunk of the year indoors, and indoor life comes with dust: hay, straw, shavings, arena surfaces, the lot. Breathe was designed for exactly this. It's a tea-cut blend of five herbs supporting healthy respiratory function in horses stabled for long periods or kept in dusty, dry environments — fed daily, as part of the ordinary ration.

It's also, deliberately, the gentle half of our respiratory pair — the everyday product most horses start on and stay on. Its stronger, targeted sibling, RespiraFix, gets a proper introduction further down the page.

Management first — we'd rather you heard it from us

No supplement outranks fresh air, and we'll happily put that in writing. The foundations of respiratory health are management: ventilation (an open top door is free), soaked or steamed forage, dust-extracted bedding, mucking out while the horse is elsewhere, and as much turnout as your yard allows. Get those right and you've done the heavy lifting. Breathe is the nutritional layer on top — daily herbal support for the horse living that life, never a substitute for it.

A formula in plain sight

Tip a scoop of Breathe into your palm and you can see and smell what you're feeding: marshmallow leaf and root, ginger, thyme and liquorice, cut coarse like a loose-leaf tea, with peppermint carried as a concentrated 10:1 extract. Five herbs chosen to work as one blend — no anonymous powder, no fillers, no artificial flavours or preservatives. Every ingredient is human grade and listed with Australia's TGA for human use, blended in our HACCP-certified, Feedsafe-accredited facility in Australia, to the standard we've held since 1990.

What it does

Tap any benefit for the detail.

A horse moves an extraordinary amount of air through its day, in work and at rest. Breathe adds a simple daily layer of herbal nutrition supporting healthy respiratory function — consistent, low-fuss, part of the feed round.

Stables, barns, indoor schools, dry summer yards: dust is part of the furniture. Breathe was designed for horses stabled for long periods and those living or working around dust — feed it through the months your horse spends indoors, or all year round.

Chosen to complement each other and fed as a whole — the Hi Form way. No headline act, no supporting cast, and nothing in the tub that isn't doing a job.

Breathe is cut like a loose-leaf tea rather than milled into an anonymous powder — you can spot the marshmallow, smell the thyme, find the ginger. A label you can audit with your own eyes. It's also why fussy eaters rarely argue.

Breathe is deliberately the milder of our two respiratory formulas — the one most horses start on and stay on. For horses that need more, RespiraFix is the stronger, more concentrated sibling, and the free nutrition advice team will tell you honestly which (if either) fits yours.

Every ingredient is human grade and TGA-listed, blended in a HACCP-certified, Feedsafe-accredited, Australian Made facility — no fillers, no artificial flavours, no preservatives. The same quality bar as the rest of the range.

What's Inside?

Key bio-available ingredients

Peppermint extract 10:1The one concentrated extract in an otherwise whole-herb blend — ten kilos of peppermint into every kilo used. Also the reason the tub smells like a herbalist's shop, and why fussy eaters rarely object.
Liquorice rootOne of the longest-serving herbs in both European and Chinese traditional practice — and naturally sweet, which horses notice before you've put the lid back on.
Marshmallow — leaf AND rootThe same plant included twice, because the leaf and the root each bring their own character to the blend. A staple of traditional European herbal practice for centuries.
GingerThe kitchen-cupboard classic — warming, aromatic, and in continuous traditional use for about as long as anyone has kept records.
ThymeA garden herb with a big aromatic personality and a very long traditional pedigree — you'll smell it the moment the lid comes off.
The blend itselfFive herbs chosen to complement one another and fed as a whole — Hi Form's synergy-first philosophy since 1990. The formula is the blend, not any single ingredient in it.

When does my horse need Breathe in thier bucket?

The moments it was made for...

  • The stabled months are starting
  • Hay-fed winters, even with the best soaking routine
  • The school is indoor and the surface has its dusty days
  • Dry, dusty summer yards
  • You want the everyday respiratory habit before reaching for the comprehensive one

What it actually costs

From 27p a day for a 300kg pony, and 55p a day for a 500kg horse on the 2.5kg tub — less than one takeaway coffee a week. Even the biggest horses at the full 21g are around 82p.

The 2.5kg tub lasts a 500kg horse very nearly six months (about 178 days); the 500g tub is a five-week introduction. Could we make it cheaper? Only by bulking it out — and a tea-cut blend has nowhere to hide a filler. What you see in the tub is the formula, all of it.

Available in 500g and 2.5kg tubs, or a monthly subscription pouch.

Every horse — and every yard — is different. The free nutrition advice team will tell you honestly what yours needs, including when the answer is 'sort the ventilation before you buy anything'.
