What is BioEquus Gold?
The everyday formula, with more in it
If you already know BioEquus, Gold is simple to explain: it is the same gut blend with three more botanicals added. BioEquus is our everyday formula — pre-, pro- and postbiotics working together with aloe vera, slippery elm and peppermint, to support a healthy gut microbiome. Gold keeps every bit of that and adds chamomile, turmeric and fenugreek, each as a concentrated extract. Same foundation, a fuller formula on top. (New to all this? The BioEquus page tells the full pre-, pro- and postbiotic story — no need to repeat it here.)
Three more botanicals, working with the blend
The three additions were chosen to sit alongside the biotic base, not to steal the show — Hi Form Australia's way is to build a formula as a whole. Chamomile is one of the oldest garden herbs in traditional feed-room use. Turmeric is the golden root long valued in kitchens and feed rooms the world over, here as a concentrated extract. Fenugreek is an aromatic seed with a long history of being fed for palatability, and it naturally contains galactomannan, a soluble plant fibre. Three botanicals with centuries of tradition between them, each concentrated so every gram in the scoop is doing something.
BioEquus or BioEquus Gold?
Most horses do beautifully on the everyday BioEquus — and if yours is already on Oxydane or LeisureVit, that same gut blend is built in. Gold is the one to reach for when a horse needs a little more: the fuller formula, fed on its own terms. Not sure which camp you are in? Our free nutrition advice team will tell you straight, even when the honest answer is the simpler, cheaper tub.
Made the Hi Form way
Every ingredient is human grade and listed with the TGA for human use, made in our HACCP-certified, Feedsafe-accredited facility in Australia. Crude ash — the part doing nothing — comes in at 0.2%, and there are no fillers, artificial flavours or preservatives. The scoop is small because the formula is concentrated, not bulked out.
What it does
Tap any benefit for the detail.
Like standard BioEquus, Gold combines pre-, pro- and postbiotics to support a healthy population of beneficial gut bacteria — the foundation the rest of the digestive system is built on.
A healthy gut is where fibre is fermented and where nutrients are absorbed. BioEquus Gold is formulated to support normal, everyday digestion as part of a balanced ration.
Where Gold parts company with the everyday formula: three additional botanicals, each included as a concentrated extract, chosen for their long traditional place in the feed room and formulated to work with the biotic base rather than compete with it.
Two of the best-known botanicals in the feed room carry over from standard BioEquus, both rich in mucilage — a soft, soluble plant fibre. Hi Form includes them for their long traditional place in equine gut care.
A level 5g scoop for most horses at the maintenance rate, mixed into slightly damp feed. Concentrated, human-grade, 0.2% crude ash and no fillers.
Gold is not a different idea — it is the same idea, taken further: the whole BioEquus blend with chamomile, turmeric and fenugreek added, for horses that want the most complete gut formula we make.
Comparing gut supplements? Read the labels together
Two gut tubs can look identical on the shelf and be very different inside. The three things worth comparing: how many jobs the formula actually does, what else is in there, and whether you are feeding a small scoop or a big one.

Small scoop, serious formula
Mix into slightly damp feed. It can also be made into a paste and syringed if your horse prefers the direct approach.
Every horse is different — if you are unsure which rate fits yours, our free nutrition advice team will happily tell you (even if the answer is 'less than you are currently feeding').
When does my horse need BioEquus Gold in their feed bucket?
The moments it was made for...
- Suitable for horses and ponies prone to gastric ulcers
- The competition life: high workload, higher concentrates, long days away
- Long stabled spells and interrupted forage routines
- The step up when BioEquus is doing well but you want the full formula
- Your vet or our advice team has suggested the comprehensive gut option
What it actually costs
From about £1.08 a day. A lighter horse or large pony at the maintenance rate works out around £1.08 a day; a 500kg horse at maintenance is about £1.35 a day, and up to roughly £2.70 on the fuller 10g rate. (Maths on the 500g tub at £135.)
Gold costs a little more than the everyday BioEquus, and there is no mystery to why: it has more in it. The extra goes on three more concentrated botanicals — chamomile, turmeric and fenugreek. Could we make it cheaper? We could take those three back out — and then it would simply be BioEquus. If budgets are tight, the everyday tub is a perfectly good place to start, and our free nutrition advice team will tell you honestly which one your horse actually needs.

Gold is the fuller formula. It carries the same pre-, pro- and postbiotic blend, with aloe vera, slippery elm and peppermint — then adds three more concentrated botanicals: chamomile, turmeric and fenugreek. BioEquus is the everyday version (and it is built into daily formulas like Oxydane and LeisureVit); Gold is the standalone step up, for horses that need a little more.
Three botanicals on top of everything in BioEquus: chamomile, turmeric and fenugreek, each included as a concentrated extract. Nothing is taken away — it is the whole BioEquus blend, plus three.
A 5g scoop a day for most horses at the maintenance rate, mixed into slightly damp feed; a little less for lighter horses and ponies, a little more (up to two scoops) when more is called for. It can be made into a paste and syringed for the truly opinionated. If you are unsure, ask our free nutrition advice team.
That is one for your vet first, always. BioEquus Gold is a complementary feed supplement for supporting healthy digestion, not a medicine or a substitute for veterinary care. Once your vet is happy, our free nutrition advice team can help it fit alongside whatever they have advised.
The peppermint helps enormously. Mixed into damp feed it disappears; as a last resort it makes up into a paste you can syringe.
Yes — it is a complementary feed. If your horse is already on Oxydane or LeisureVit, the everyday BioEquus blend is built in, so most owners choose either the daily formula plus standard BioEquus when needed, or Gold as the fuller standalone. Not sure which fits? Ask us — the advice is free, even when it saves you a tub.
The peppermint helps enormously, and the fenugreek is there partly because horses tend to like it. Mixed into damp feed it disappears; as a last resort it makes up into a paste you can syringe.
QUALITY YOU CAN TRUST.
